The first phase of the Fiber for Martin project, which will bring blazing internet speeds, will be close to completion by Aug. 1. Next week, crews will begin splicing the fiber for a connection to the remote building behind WK&T’s new Martin office.
The new office at 207 S. Lindell St. will open on July 24. A customer service center will be in the new office. Sales representatives also will be in the area to work with customers wishing to sign up for the fiber internet service.
WK&T Telecommunications has a collaborative project with the city of Martin to build a cutting-edge fiber optic network within the Martin city limits. The project will tie the city of Martin to WK&T’s existing network in Fulton.
In the next 12 to 18 months, WK&T crews will install about 150 miles of fiber optic line through the city of Martin.
