2017 may have been the year that fiber internet arrived in Martin, but 2018 will be the year that residents will see the future of their town begin to take shape. By the end of this year, homes and businesses in Martin will have access to world-class fiber optic telecommunications services that are usually only available in larger cities. As a result, Martin’s residents can expect their quality of life, as well as interest in the town from prospective businesses, to grow.
What has to happen before that time comes?
At present, several neighborhoods in north Martin have been connected and now have access to services from WK&T.
Despite a slow start in 2018 due to inclement weather, most areas west of I-45E will be finished by mid-February. This includes most of central Martin and expands west past The University of Tennessee Martin. Several more neighborhoods are expected to be complete throughout the summer beginning in the south and moving eastward, where final connections are expected to be made in the fall. To learn whether or not connections have been made in your neighborhood, call WK&T at 877-954-8748 or visit us at 207 S. Lindell St., Martin, TN 38237.
Could Martin be the next hot destination for tech startups and other businesses that demand cutting-edge connections? The charm of small-town living combined with the convenience of big-city internet will make Martin a desirable location for businesses, and an even more desirable place to live. 2018 will be the year that Martin’s future becomes visible.
